Kevin Kline (1947 - )
American actor who was born in St. Louis, Missouri.
After graduating from Indiana University, Kevin Kline
went on to attend the Julliard school in New York.
Kevin Kline made his stage debut in 1970, in the off-Broadway
"Wars of Roses," and then appeared with the New York
Shakespeare Festival for their 1970 season. Kline
made his broadway debut in 1972 with the John Houseman's
The Acting Company, of which he was a founding member.
In 1978 he won his first Tony award for his performance
in "On the Twentieth Century."
In 1980 Kevin Kline won his second Tony for his role
in "The Pirates of Penzance." He would reprise
that same role in the film verison in 1983.
Kevin Kline's film debut was made in 1982 in the
film Sophie's Choice with Meryl Streep. Other
Career highlights include The Big Chill (1983),
Dave (1993), SoapDish (1991), French
Kiss (1995) and as star Douglas Fairbanks Sr in
the film Chaplin (1992).
Kevin Kline is married to actress Phoebe Cates (FAST
TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH) and they have two children.
Kline still does stage work and is an Associate Producer
with the New York Shakespeare Festival.
