Samuel L. Jackson is a powerhouse actor, known for portraying strong-willed, aggressive, loquacious, unusual characters.  Jackson has been nominated for an Oscar, an Emmy and numerous other awards.

As of 2006, Jackson's films have grossed more money at the box office than the work of any other actor in cinematic history. Since 1980, he has been married to LaTanya Richardson, with whom he has a daughter, who graduated from Vassar College and now works as crew on various projects. Samuel L. Jackson started out playing villains, druggies and drug dealers. In the eighties Jackson became well known in 3 movies made by Spike Lee; DO THE RIGHT THING (1989), MO' BETTER BLUES (1990), and JUNGLE FEVER (1991).

Jackson's defining role was in 1994 as redeemed hit man Jules Winnfield in Quentin Tarantino's PULP FICTION. Jackson was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in  this role which written especially for him by Tarantino.  Tarantino waxes poetic about the way in which Jackson “sings” his dialogue so expressively. Jackson received a Silver Berlin Bear for his part in the Tarantino movie JACKIE BROWN (1997) as the memorable, crazed, controlling, gun runner, Ordell Robbi.

Samuel L. Jackson took on the role of action hero in the films THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, DIE HARD: WITH A VENGEANCE, THE NEGOTIATOR, A TIME TO KILL, and SHAFT.

He can pick and choose his roles, from blockbuster material to art house cinema, such as THE RED VIOLIN, in which he demonstrated his versatility as an actor, playing musical instrument appraiser Charles Moritz, who pulls a switcheroo at a hoity-toity auction house, on a primo violin that has a fascinating and haunted past. Jackson also plays ordinary characters, with extraordinary penetration, as in the movie CHANGING LANES with Ben Affleck.
