More About Peter O'Toole...
Peter O'Toole was born Peter Seamus O'Toole
on August 2nd, 1932, in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland.
He grew up in Leeds, England.
At 17, the acting bug bit him, and he made
his stage debut.
Served in the Royal Navy for 2 years as
a radio man.
On scholarship, he attended the Royal Academy
of Dramatic Arts, with classmates Albert Finney, Alan Bates,
and Richard Harris.
Was a stage actor for several years at Bristol
Old Vic.
Over his impressive career, O'Toole received
7 Best Actor nominations, but has never won.
Peter O'Toole nearly ruined his health because
of his drinking problem, but he gave up alcohol, and triumphantly
came back to do THE STUNT MAN and MY FAVORITE YEAR.
His first volume of his memoirs was published
in 1992, called "Loitering With Intent". |
