Olivia De Havilland
and Montgomery Cliff
in "The Heiress" (1949)

She was grace. She was kindness. She was beautiful, and she was definitely not a wimp! Because of her ingenious, a whole "school of lesser gentlewoman grew up in her wake". She was a down to earth girl who rarely portrayed upper class dames. Yet when she did, she played them extremely well; "Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938). Olivia preferred to cast herself in the roles of the middle class nobility. Films, like "Hold Back Dawn" (1941), "To Each His Own" (her first Oscar, 1946), "The Heiress" (1949), and "Gone With The Wind" (1939), capture the true essence of her self-effacing gifts.

Olivia's a role model for all future generations of women, not just in the acting business, but also in life itself. Now how many people do you know can say that about someone? (CD)
