Mel Gibson - action star

Handsome, active, and with a light touch, Mel Gibson became a screen giant in the 1980's.

His notable films include: THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY, HAMLET, THE ROAD WARRIOR, RANSOM, TEQUILA SUNRISE PAYBACK, CONSPIRACY THEORY, THE PATRIOT, WE WERE SOLDIERS, and SIGNS. Mel Gibson's defining role was as an unstable, but humorous, cop in the four LETHAL WEAPON movies.

In 1996 Mel Gibson won a Best Director Oscar for BRAVEHEART, which also won the Best Picture award. He has since directed the controversial and very successful PASSION OF THE CHRIST and APOCALYPTO.

Gibson, who was born in America but grew up in Australia, has been married to the same woman for many years, and has numerous children.

Mel Gibson's recent films include: SIGNS and THE SINGING DETECTIVE.
