Handsome, fit, and extremely likable, Kevin Costner came out of nowhere (he played the corpse being dressed at the start of THE BIG CHILL to become a huge star of the 1980's.

His defining role was in FIELD OF DREAMS. Kevin Costner won the Best Director Oscar for DANCES WITH WOLVES. Costner's other notable films include: THE UNTOUCHABLES, NO WAY OUT, BULL DURHAM, JFK, and THIRTEEN DAYS.

When Kevin Costner's WATERWORLD was released, having cost about $200 million to make, critics lined up to predict that the film would fail and Costner's career falter. Neither event occured, and eventually Hollywood insiders claimed that the pricey WATERWORLD would eventually turn a modest profit.
