He defined the terms "leading-man
role" in the late eighties, early nineties, and he's been
on top ever since. Denzel collaborates brains with brawn, and
he does it well. Audiences watch Washington's films because,
unlike most other actors, his sexuality is cool and discreet,
his intelligence fierce, and his passion is interminable. Denzel
Washington has this uncanny way of leaving you hanging on the
edge of your seat begging for more, even after the film is over.
Denzel starred in great blockbusters,
like 1987's "Cry Freedom", "Malcom X" (1992),
and won an Oscar for his performance, in 1989's Civil War epic,
"Glory". Yet he can play roles without presenting
the issue of his race, and he played these the best; as seen
in films, like 1993's "Philadelphia", "Crimson
Tide" (1995), and 1996's "Courage Under Fire".
