Billy Crystal was born on March 14, 1947 in Long Beach, Long Island, New York. Started his adult life as a teacher, and did comedy part time.

Billy Crystal is one of the few stand-up comics to successfully make the huge leap to being a movie star.

He got his big break when he took the place of Robert Kline, to entertain at a roast for 'Muhammad Ali'. Both the audience and Ali himself loved his impressions of Muhammad Ali and Howard Cossell.

Billy Crystal became well known from his role of the "acerbic gay stepson" on the TV Series, SOAP. (1977 - 81)
