William was a character actor whose popularity was due to
appearances in soap operas. On YOUNG DR. MALONE (1958), he
played the father for five years. He was also cast in ANOTHER
WORLD (1964), THE EDGE OF NIGHT (1956), SEARCH FOR TOMORROW
(1951) and A WORLD APART (1970).
His best film role was as Christian de Neuvillette in the
1950 film version of CYANO DE BERGERAC, starring José Ferrer
in his Oscar-winning role as Cyrano.
