Walter Koenig is best known for his role as
"Chekov" he portrayed in 7 STAR TREK FILMS, a role
that he first established on the two year run of the classic
STAR TREK television series. Walter was originally cast on
the show because he resembled teenage heart-throb, Davey Jones
( actor on TV show, THE MONKEYS), as the producers wanted
to draw a younger audience.
Even though most of his film career has centered
on being in the STAR TREK FILM series,Walter Koenig has led a
full life being a stage actor (30 years), acting in guest spots
and movies for TV, being a screenplay, stageplay, TV episode,
comic book and novel writer, being a college teacher (UCLA), and
being husband and father.
Walter's writings include the non-fiction book
"Chekov's Enterprise", and the satiric fantasy novel
Buck Alice and the Actor-Robot. In 1998, Walter Koenig wrote another
book entitled "Warped Factors - A Neurotic's Guide to the
Universe." His screenplay, "You're Never Alone when
You're a Schizophrenic" was a finalist in the 1996 New York
Film Festival.
Koenig has been married to actress Judy Levitt since 1965 and
they have one son, Andrew.
