Vanessa Redgrave was born on January 30, 1937 in London,
England.British leading lady, daughter of actor Sir Michael
Redgrave and sister of actress Lynn Redgrave.
Sometimes Vanessa Redgrave is creditied as Vanessa Redgreiv.
In her first major theatrical role, A TOUCH OF THE SUN (1958),
Vanessa Redgrave played the daughter of a school headmaster
who was played by her own father. In 1958 Vanessa Redgrave
made her screen debut in BEHIND THE MASK.
Vanessa Redgrave and her sister, Lynn Redgrave, were nominated
for the 1967 Best Actress Academy Award. Vanessa was nominated
for MORGAN: A SUITABLE CASE FOR TREATMENT (1966), and Lynn
was nominated for GEORGY GIRL (1966). They both lost to Elizabeth
Taylor, who won for WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?
In 1997 Vanessa Redgrave was nominated for a Laurence Olivier
Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance
in JOHN GABRIEL BORKMAN. For Best Actress Vanessa Redgrave
was awarded the 1991 London Evening Standard Theatre Award
for her performance in WHEN SHE DANCED.
In 2003, Vanessa Redgrave became the twelfth performer to
win the Triple Crown of acting. Oscar: Best Supporting Actress,
JULIA (1977), Tony: Best Actress-Play, LOND DAY'S JOURNEY
INTO NIGHT (2003), and Emmys: Best Actress-Limited Series/Special,
