About Tom Ewell (1909 – 1994)
Tom Ewell was born on April 29, 1909 in Owensboro, Kentucky. On September 12, 1994 Tom Ewell passed away in Woodland Hills, California.

Tom Ewell is sometimes credited as Tommy Ewell although his birth name is S. Yewell Tompkins.

In 2003 Tom Ewell was inducted in the Owensboro High School Hall of Fame.

The Seven Year Itch was performed 750 times on Broadway before Tom Ewell portrayed it in the 1955 movie version. Tom Ewell won Broadway's 1953 Tony Award as Best Actor (Dramatic) for The Seven Year Itch a performance that he recreated in the film of the same name, The Seven Year Itch.

Ewell, a popular comic actor of the 1950s and 1960s, came to Hollywood from the stage, debuting on the big screen in 1940's They Knew What They Wanted. Tom Ewell will be best remembered by younger viewers as Robert Blake's boozing buddy on the 1970s TV series Baretta.

In 1983 Tom made his last feature film Easy Money.
