Tom Courtenay was born on February 25, 1937 in Hull, Humberside,
England.
In 1962 Tom Courtenay first captured moviegoers' attention
in his debut leading role in THE LONELINESS OF THE LONG DISTANCE
RUNNER.
In 1965 Tom Courtenay got a Oscar-nomination for his supporting
performance as Pasha in DOCTOR ZHIVAGO.
Nominated for two Tony Awards as Best Actor (Play): in 1977
for OTHERWISE ENGAGED, and in 1982 for THE DRESSER, a part
recreated in Tom Courtenay's Oscar-nominated performance in
the film of the same name, THE DRESSER (1983).
Tom Courtenay was awarded the 1994 London Critics Circle
Theatre Award (Drama Theatre) for Best Actor and London Evening
Standard Theatre Award for Best Actor for his performance
in MOSCOW STATIONS.
