In 1950 Sylvia Miles made her first TV appearance on a BOB
HOPE show.
She portrayed Sally Rogers in the Carl Reiner 1959 television
pilot HEAD OF THE FAMILY which eventually became the basis for
THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW.
Sylvia Miles is infamous for dumping a plate of pasta on the
head of dyspeptic theater critic John Simon of New York magazine
in THE GINGER MAN in a 1973 play.
Miles attracted major notice, in 1969, as Jon Voight's one-night
stand in MIDNIGHT
COWBOY, which earned her an Oscar nomination.
