Robert Mitchum was born on August 6, 1917 in Bridgeport,
Connecticut. Robert Mitchum passed away on July 1, 1997 in
Santa Barbara, California from lung cancer.
Robert is the father of actors James and Christopher Mitchum.
Also brother of actor John Mitchum. Mitchum is the grandfather
of actor Bentley Mitchum and Casper Van Dien and to actress
Carrie Mitchum.
In 1947, Robert Mitchum and Gary Gray recorded the songs
from RACHEL AND THE STRANGER for Delta records soundtrack
alumn. In 1998, these and other songs, were released on a
CD as ROBERT MITCHUM SINGS.
Mitchum served in the Army of the United States and was discharged
as a Private First Class and received the World War II Victory
Medal.
Mitchum was voted the 61st Greatest Movie Star of all time
by Entertainment Weekly.
