Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor III was born on December 1, 1940 Peoria, Illinois. He also went by the nickname Ritchie.

Pryor was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1986.

On December 10, 2005 Richard Pryor passed away in Encino, California from a heart attack.

Richard Pryor's father Buck Carter, also known as LeRoy Pryor was a boxer and WWII vet.

Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor made four films together starting in 1976 with Silver Streak, then in 1980 Stir Crazy, the next was nine years later in 1989 See No Evil, Hear No Evil, the last was Another You in 1991.
