Richard Chamberlain was born on March 31, 1934 in Beverly
Hills, California.
Richard served in the Korean War, then headed for Hollywood
and TV land in 1959. With DR. KILDARE (1961), Richard Chamberlain
became an "overnight" sensation and huge pin-up fan. Richard
Chamberlain was the leading TV heartthrob of the early 1960s.
Chamberlain's bravura performances as HAMLET (1969) and RICHARD
II (1972) won over the not-so-easy-to-impress British audiences.
"King of 80s Mini-movies" success came from such challenging
productions as THE THORN BIRDS (1983) (mini) and SHOGUN (1980/II)
(mini) put him right back on top.
In the 2005 issue Richard was Ranked #7 in TV Guide's list
of "TV's 25 Greatest Teen Idols."
At the age of 69 Richard Chamberlain decided to "come out"
with a tell-all biography entitled SHATTERED LOVE, in which
he candidly discusses the anguish of hiding his homosexuality
to protect his image throughout his long career.
