The late Paul Winfield was an American leading actor, born
in Los Angeles, California.
An accomplished, talented actor who became well-known from
his Oscar-nominated performance in the huge 1972, G-rated
hit, SOUNDER, where Winfield portrayed Nathan Lee Morgan,
the sharecropper patriarch, who is jailed for stealing food
to feed his family.
Winfield's versatility and skill as an actor was noticed
by many, which resulted in a very fine acting career in both
film and TV. In 1995, Paul Winfield won an Emmy for his portrayal
of Judge Harold Nance on the TV series, PICKET FENCES, shown
on October 7th and 14th, 1994.
