Marlee Matlin was born on August 24th, 1965, in Morton Grove, Illinois. She lost most of her hearing at the age of 18 months, but never let it get in her way.

CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD, was her film debut. Marlee was cast in this film, after her fine performance was noticed in a play production of the Tony winning CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD.

Marlee Matlin won an Emmy for her performance as Laurie Bey in the TV Series, PICKET FENCES.
