In St. Louis, Missouri on June 17, 1954, Mark Linn Baker
was born.
Although his christened name is without the recognizable
hyphen, it wasn’t until he decided to join the actors union
where there was already an existing Mark Baker in the records,
forcing Mark to hyphenate his last name to Linn-Baker.
In 1995, the same year he landed the role of Hysterium for
the Broadway production "A Funny Thing Happened on the
way to the Forum", Baker married set designer Adrianne
Lobel. Together the two have a daughter.
Baker continued to expand his Broadway resume with his role
as "Marvelous" Mark Slackmeyer in "Doonesbury: The Musical"..
Based on the writing teams for Sid Caesar’s Your Show of
Shows, "My Favorite Year" and "Laughter on
the 23rd Florr" found room for Baker in their productions,
establishing him in notable roles.
Currently, Mark is a partner in Manhattan's West Bank Café
and in 2002 Mark starred as Toad in the Minneapolis’s Children
Theater’s play, “A Year with Frog and Toad”.
