About Linda Hamilton (1956 – )
Linda Carroll Hamilton was born September 26, 1956 in Salisbury, Maryland. She is best known for her portrayal of Sarah Connor in The Terminator and its sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Hamilton's mother was a Mayflower descendant. Her father was a physician who died when she was five. Hamilton has an identical twin sister (Leslie), an older sister and a younger brother. She studied for two years at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, before moving on to acting studies in New York City. While studying at Washington College, Hamilton recalls that her acting professor told her she had no hope of earning a living as an actress. In New York, she attended Lee Strasberg's acting workshops.

Hamilton found early work on television, most notably as Lisa Rogers in the prime-time soap opera Secrets Of Midland Heights (1980-1981). Her big-screen debut came a year later in the low-budget thriller Tag: The Assassination Game (1982).

Hamilton played the lead role in the movie version of Stephen King's Children Of The Corn. Though it was a critical and commercial failure, her next movie, James Cameron's The Terminator (1984), opposite Michael Biehn, was not, and her acting career kicked into high gear. Her next movie was Black Moon Rising, an action thriller that also starred Tommy Lee Jones. From there she turned to television as a guest-star in series such as Murder, She Wrote, and Beauty And The Beast.

In 1990, People magazine chose Linda as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world.

Linda Hamilton returned to movies in 1990 alongside Michael Caine in Mr. Destiny and in 1991 reprised her Sarah Connor role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the sequel to The Terminator. T2, for which Hamilton undertook intense physical training, was a huge box-office hit. Her identical twin sister was her double in the movie.

In 1995 she returned to television with A Mother's Prayer the story of a mother who loses her husband and is diagnosed with AIDS.

The following year was a busy one for Hamilton as she made two films that were released a week apart in 1997: Shadow conspiracy with Charlie Sheen and Dante's Peak with Pierce Brosnan. Though Shadow Conspiracy bombed at the box office, Dante's Peak was one of the year's biggest hits.

Since then, Linda Hamilton has appeared on the TV series Frasier and According To Jim and has been seen in more TV movies, including On The Line, Robots Rising, Rescuers: Stories Of Courage, Two Couples, and Point Last Seen, among others.

In 2009, she again reprised her Sarah Connor role, this time in Terminator Salvation, via voice-overs only. The following year she joined the cast of Chuck in the ongoing guest role of Mary Elizabeth Bartowski, a CIA agent. She is also the guest star in the Showtime series Weeds, where she plays Mary-Louis Parker's marijuana supplier. In 2011, she was the narrator for The Future Of Fear horror documentary.

Hamilton has been married twice, first to Bruce Abbott (1982-1989), and then to James Cameron (1997-1999). They had a daughter, Josephine, who was born in 1993.
