About Liam Dunn (1916 – 1976)
Liam Dunn was a character actor who made frequent guest appearances in TV series such as Bonanza, Room 222, Alias Smith and Jones, Mannix, and Gunsmoke.

His big break came when he played a judge (and the father of Barbara Streisand) in the 1972 comedy What's Up, Doc?. Mel Brooks, who was assembling a stock acting company at the time, noticed him and subsequently cast him in several of his films. Dunn went on to make appearances in Blazing Saddles (as 'Rev. Johnson'), Young Frankenstein (as 'Mr. Hilltop'), and Silent Movie (as the 'News vendor').

He often portrayed hapless characters who were verbally or physically abused in comedic ways. Dunn's television credits also included Twigs, Barney Miller, McMillan & Wife, Rhoda, Sanford and Son, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

In the Spring of 1976, it is reported that Liam Dunn collapsed on the set of Disney's The Shaggy D.A. He died from emphysema soon afterwards on April 11, 1976, in Granada Hills, California. Though just 59 at the time of his death, Dunn always looked much older, and was cast accordingly.
