About Laura Linney (1964 – )
Laura Linney was born on February 5,1964 in New York city.

Laura Linney's father is the famous playwright Romulus Linney. Even though her life revolved around his profession, Laura never lived in her father's house. Her parents divorced when she was an infant. Her mother is a nurse.

In 1986, Laura Linney graduated from Brown University. She went on to study acting at Juilliard and the Arts Theatre School in Moscow.

Linney married David Adkins in 1995, but were later divorced in 2000. Adkins acted the role of the son in the 1999 film, The Thomas Crown Affair.

Laura Linney began her career on Broadway in plays such as Hedda Gabler and Six Degrees of Separation.

In the 1990s, Laura Linney's film career began with small roles in Lorenzo's Oil in 1992 and Dave in 1993. She landed the role of Mary Anne Singleton in the PBS film adaptations of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City, More Tales of the City and Further Tales of the City from 1993 to 2001.

Linney's first substantial role was in Primal Fear in 1996. She played Richard Gere's wife. Her performance was excellent and brought her a better selection of new roles.

In 1997, Clint Eastwood chose Laura Linney to play his daughter in Absolute Power. In 1998 she had second billing in The Truman Show.

For her performance in You Can Count on Me in 2000, she was nominated for an Academy Award. Laura Linney won several awards for her role as Sammy in The House of Mirth in 2000.

Laura Linney has been offered challenging and dramatic roles and she excels in them. In 2003, she worked once again with Clint Eastwood in Mystic River. In 2004 she was cast in the film Kinsey and won another Academy Award Nomination for her work. For her role in Kinsey she had to gain about twenty pounds. She said she succeeded by mainly eating Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

Her two favorite loves in life are Meryl Streep and donuts.
