Lana Turner was born on February 8, 1921, in Wallace, Idaho. Lana Turner passed away on June 29, 1995, in Century City, California, from throat cancer.

Lana Turner's birth name was Julia Jean Mildred Frances Turner she also went by the nickname Sweater Girl. Lana's eyebrows were shaved off for the bit part of a harem girl early in her screen career. They never grew back.

The 1941 movies: ZIEGFELD GIRL and DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE made Lana Turner a star.

In 1957, Lana Turner earned a Oscar nomination for her performance in PEYTON PLACE.

Lana published her autobiography, LANA: THE LADY, THE LEGEND, THE TRUTH in 1982.

Lana's daughter, Cheryl Crane, wrote a book about her life with her mother, her mother's 7 husbands. It was entitled DETOUR: A HOLLYWOOD STORY.

Cheryl Crane achieved international notoriety for stabbing her mother's abusive boyfriend, Johnny Stompanato, to death, in 1958.
