Keith Carradine was born on August 8, 1949 in San Mateo, California.

A tough cowboy role has made Keith Carradine a star in both Deadwood (he was Wild Bill Hickock) and in Wild Bill, he was Buffalo Bill Cody.

A family of actors Keith Carradine is the son of John Carradine. Keith is also the brother to David Carradine and Robert Carradine. Ever Carradine who also made her debut role although it was uncredited in The Long Riders is Keith's niece.

Part of what made the movie The Long Riders a hit was the strong cast using four actual families the Carradine's, the Keach's the Quaid's and the Guest's. The famed James boys were played by James Keach as Jesse James and Stacy Keach as Frank James. The Miller boys were the Quaid's, Dennis Quaid played Ed Miller and Randy Quaid was Clell Miller. Keith Carradine composed and performed the song "I'm Easy" in the Robert Altman drama Nashville, earning him the Best Song Oscar in 1975.
