In 1983 John Cusack made his feature film debut at 17, acting
alongside Rob Lowe and Andrew McCarthy in the romantic
comedy CLASS. He played in various teen flicks until his first adult role in the GRIFTERS, where he played a weaselly conman to acclaim, along with powerhouse actors Angelica Huston, who played his mother, and Annette Benning, who played his girlfriend.
Cusack founded the production company, New Crime Productions. Their first production was GROSS POINTE BLANK, in which he played a hitman rekindling an old flame at his 10th year high school reunion. Cusack played the entangled investigating reporter in Clint Eastwood's production of MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL. In the inventive film, BEING JOHN MALCOVICH, he played a two-timing office schlumpf whose lovers get the better of him. He played the loser lead in HIGH FIDELITY who recounts, in the most engaging way, how he screwed up his last 5 love relationships.
