About Jason Statham (1967 – )
Jason Dtatham was born on July 26th, 1967 in Shirebrook, Derbyshire. His mother was Eileen Yates, who was a dancer. His father was Barry Statham, who was a lounge singer, and a street merchant, not above selling a few black market items.

Jason and his brother got first hand experience selling black market items with their father. Of this exposure, Jason said in an interview; "Growing up where I did, you met a lot of colorful characters whose business was on the other side of the law, or more likely you didn't know what they were up to, and you never would. So playing those kinds of characters now, I can draw on that. The rest of it, you can practice or learn from books. But mostly, I draw from my experiences. That's all I have, you know."

Jason chose not to join his father in merchandizing, and was steered toward football by his friend Vinnie Jones. Jason played football for the local grammar school; (1978–83),taht he sttended since he was 11 years old. As a teen, he started learning and practicing martial arts, and had real passion for diving.

Jason finished 12th in the World Championships, in 1992. Jason Statham was also a member of Britain's National Diving Squad for twelve years. He competed for England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.

His enjoyement of the discipline of working out at the gym is what got him into being an action hero/ anti-hero actor. While Jason was training at London's Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, he was approached by the Sport Promotion Agency, looking for manly men to model  the clothing brand for the French Connection clothing line of men's sportsware.

To make ends meet, Jason returned to what he knew, and sold knock-off perfume and jewellery on street corners, without being caught. Luckily, this wasn't for long though. He also was offered work; modeling advertisements for Levi Jeans. Director Guy Ritchie saw this Levi Jean advertisement, loved his regular guy look, and opened the door for Jason to become an action hero/anti-hero thespian, who was able to do most of his own stunts.

Jason got his acting debut role as Bacon, the street-wise, con artist, in the indie action thriller, 1998's LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, directed by Guy Ritchie.

Jason collaborated a second time with director Guy Ritchie in the 2000 action film, SNATCH. Cast alongside popular actors Brad Pitt, Dennis Farina and Benicio del Toro, SNATCH earned more than $80 million in box-office revenues, making it a box office winner for those who funded the film.

Because of its financial success, Statham was able to break into main-stream Hollywood and appeared in two more action movies in 2001: GHOSTS OF MARS and THE ONE.

In 2002, Jason was cast as the lead role of driver Frank Martin in the action movie, THE TRANSPORTER, in which his background in martial arts enabled him to do most of his own stunts. He carried the film beautifully. It was that role that shot him to leading man status, earning him a salary of $750,000. He followed it up with a sequel, TRANSPORTER 2; (2005), which grossed even more than the original at the box office.

Statham played in supporting roles in THE ITALIAN JOB;(2003), and CELLULAR;(2004), then starred in the British crime thriller, THE BANK JOB, which was both a critical and box office success.

Things got busier for Jason during the next few years when he successfully added no less than five stints into his burgeoning resume:IN THE NAME OF THE KING: A DUNGEON SIEGE TALE;(2008), THE BANK JOB; (2008), "DEATH RACE;(2008), CRANK 2: HIGH VOLTAGE;(2009), and THE BRAZILLIAN JOB; (2009).

The latter two films; HIGH VOLTAGE, and THE BRAZILIAN JOB, would see him reprise his roles of Chev Chelios and Handsome Rob, respectively.

In 2010, Jason was cast with other high-profile action stars, including Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke, to play the usual suspects in the action thriiler, THE EXPENDABLES. Jason was cast as the character, Lee Christmas, who he reprised in both the sequels: THE EXPENDABLES 2;(2012), and THE EXPENDABLES 3;(2014).

All his characters are known for their "deadpan, sarcastic delivery", stubbley face hair, and "deep gravelly voice." This straight arrow, with no vices, has done well for himself in the action film business.

Jason Statham's notable movie credits include...

FURIOUS 7 (2015)
THE EXPENDABLES 3 (2014)
