About Jane Seymour (1951 – )

Jane Seymour was born in Hayes and Harlington, Middlesex, England on February 15, 1951. Her given name at birth was Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg. She is the oldest daughter of John Frankenberg and Mieke Van Trigt, who was a nurse.

During WW2, Mieke was a P. O.W. in an Indonesian Japanese Prison Camp for three and a half years and survived the horrid treatment. John Frankenberg was a Jewish British obstetrician, the son of Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants from Poland. Jane has two younger sisters; Sally and Anne.

Jane's mother, Mieke, taught Jane and her sisters to speak fluent Dutch. Jane received her education at the Arts Educational School in Tring, Hertfordshire.

The many talented Jane Seymour is both an actress and a producer. One of her trademarks is her eyes. Her right eye is brown and her left eye is green. About her physical appearance, Jane quipped, "I had ordered long legs, but they never arrived. My eyes are weird too;one is gray and the other is green. I have a crooked smile and my nose looks like a ski slope. No, I would not win a Miss contest."

Jane's first film role was an uncredited one, portraying a chorus girl in the 1969 fim, OH! WHAT A LOVELY WAR. In her second film, THE ONLY WAY;(1970), she was a daughter in a Jewish family in Denmark trying to escape Nazi occupation.

Her first memorable role was portraying the character;Solitare, in the mega James Bond hit, LIVE AND LET DIE, co-starring with Rodger Moore.

Another film that brought Jane to public awareness was her performance as Elise McKenna in the 1980 film, SOMEWHERE IN TIME. She was nominated for a Best Actress Saturn Award in 1981 for this performance.

TV movies, TV Mini-series and TV series have given Jane many opportunities to prove her ablity as an actress. For her performance in the 1976 TV mini-series, CAPTAINS AND THE KINGS, she was nominated for an Outstanding Leading Actress Primetime Emmy.

In 1982, Jane won a Best Actress Golden Globe for her performance in the TV mini-series, EAST OF EDEN.

At one point Jane was running neck and neck with Patty Duke for the title "The Queen of TV Movies". In the 1988 TV movie, ONASSIS, THE RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD, Jane won a Best Supporting Actress Primetime Emmy.

In 1989, Jane was nominated for a Best Actress Primetime Emmy in the TV mini-series WAR AND REMEMBRANCE, as well as a Golden Globe Best Actress nomination.

Many people know Jane Seymore as DR. QUINN, MEDICINE WOMAN; a series that ran from 1993, though 1998, for which she won several awards from a variety of groups.

Jane received 4 Golden Globe Best Actress nominations during the show's run, of which she won the 1996 Best Actress nomination. In 1994, and 1998, Jane was also nominated for OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS Primetime Emmy for her performance as well.

In 1999, Jane won a Star for Television on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7000 Hollywood Blvd.

Also, on New Year's Eve in 1999, Queen Elizabeth II, named Jane Seymour to be an Officer of the Order of British Empire.

Jane has seventeen producing credits under her belt, all of which are TV movies, starting in 1988 - 2001.

Michael Attenborough, who directed THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST in 1985, married Jane Seymour in 1971 but this marriage was a short one, as they were later divorced in 1973.

Jane married Geoffrey Planer in 1977 but they were later divorced in 1978.

David Flynn, was Jane Seymour's third husband and they have two children, Katherine;(b. 1982) and Sean;(b.1986). They were later divorced in 1992. Their daughter Katherine Flynn was Miss Golden Globe in 2001.

James Keach married Jane Seymour in 1993. In 2005, he played the warden in WALK THE LINE. They have twin boys, John and Kristopher;(b. 1995, when Jane was 44). Jane's twin boys are named after family friends Johnny Cash and Christopher Reeve. Christopher Reeve was the Godfather of her son Kristopher and Johnny Cash was the Godfather of John.

Jane Seymour and her husband James Keach owned a 14th century manor house outside Bath, England called St. Catherine's Court. When their marriage ended in 2013, they sold their beloved St. Catherine's Court.

On February 11th, 2005, Jane Seymour became a U.S. Citizen in downtown Los Angeles.

Jane Seymour is an Official Spokesperson for UNICEF. She is an International Ambassador for Child help USA. Jane also is the Honorary Chairperson for City Hearts.
