In 1952 while remodeling his home, James Mason discovered several reels of Buster Keaton's "lost" films. Mason had purchased Keaton's Hollywood mansion and immediately recognized their historical significance and was responsible for their preservation.

In the late 1970s James Mason told "Playboy Magazine" that he hated rock n' roll but loved country music.

In the origianl 1979 version of SALEM'S LOT, James Mason starred with his wife Clarissa Kaye, the two never appeared together on screen.

Two big hits for James Mason was THE MAN IN GRAY playing a villain in 1943, and a nasty mentor to Ann Todd in THE SEVENTH VEIL in 1945. Trying his hand in filmmaking early on, James Mason produced several of his own pictures including the 1952 LADY POSSESSED which he also wrote. Putting out one of the first Hollywood movies dealing with the danger of drug, James Mason produced the 1956 BIGGER THAN LIFE.

Earning his first Academy Award nomination, was for James Mason's role in the technicolor remake of A STAR IS BORN in 1954.

Playing a ruthless trial lawyer in THE VERDICT in 1982, a performance for which James Mason picked up his last Oscar nomination.
