Hugo Weaving was born in Austin, Nigeria on April 4, 1960. His parents left Nigeria before he was one year old. Hugo has an older brother Simon and a younger sister Anna who both live in Australia. Hugo Weaving's father worked in the computer industry which caused the family to do a lot of
traveling to places such as Nigeria, Great Britain and Australia.
During Hugo Weaving's teen years, he attended Queen Elizabeth's Hospital School in Bristol, England. His first taste of acting began at this school. In 1976, Hugo Weaving, finished his education at Knox Grammar School in Sydney Australia. He graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art. Mel Gibson, who played the starring role in THE PATRIOT in 2000, and Geoffrey Rush, who acted in the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST, were also graduates in 1981.
Hugo Weaving has worked as a actor, miscellaneous crew member, producer, himself, and on archive footage in film. Since graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Hugo Weaving
has become an up and coming star. However, he is more comfortable on stage and continually performs in Australian Theater Productions with the Sydney Theater Company.
Recently, the roles in the MATRIX Trilogy and THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy have made Hugo Weaving an international profile and one of the greatest sci-if villains of the Twenty-first Century.
Hugo Weaving has suffered from Epileptic Seizures since he was 13 years old. As a result of his Epilepsy he has never gotten a drivers license. He also doesn't own a cell phone or a wristwatch. He is a Pesco Vegetarian which means he eats fish but no other meat.
Hugo Weaving currently lives in Australia with his wife Katrina Greenwood, an artist, who he married in 1984. They have two children, Harry and Holly.
