Hayden Christensen was born on April 19, 1981 in Vancouver,
British Columbia, Canada.
Hayden set out to become an Actor when a chance encounter
at the age of eight placed him in his first commercial, for
Pringles. A young Canadian actor Christensen started his film career
at the age of 13 starring in several TV dramas.
Hayden Christensen's biggest break was a starring role on
the Fox Family network's HIGHER GROUND (2000). On May 12,
2000 Hayden announced that he would be starring as Anakin Skywalker
in the prequels; STAR
WARS:EPISODE II - ATTACK OF THE CLONES and STAR WARS:
EPISODE III - REVENGE OF THE SITH.
Hayden Christensen's role as the troubled, misunderstood
teen 'Sam Monroe' in Irwin Winkler's LIFE AS A HOUSE won him
''Breakthrough Performance of the Year'' from the National Board
Review. The film also placed Hayden as a nominee for ''Best Supporting
Actor'' at both the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
In 2002 Christensen was one of Teen People Magazine's "25
Hottest Stars under 25". Director George Lucas felt that Hayden
has raw talent and more sexual chemistry with actress Natalie
Portman. Lucas stunned the entire world by picking the then-unknown
actor for the role as Anakin Skywalker. Hayden fractured his
hand during the filming of a rather violent scene in LIFE
AS A HOUSE in which his character hits a wall.
A digital rendering of Hayden Christensen appears in the
2004 DVD version of STAR WARS: EPISODE VI - RETURN OF THE
JEDI (1983), as the spirit of Anakin Skywalker. This replaced
Sebastian Shaw as the ghostly image that appears beside Obi-Wan
Kenobi and Yoda at the end of the film.
Hayden was a "ball boy" at the Canadian Open tennis matches,
Jumped out too soon during a match in which John McEnroe was
playing, causing an interruption in play.
In 2002 Hayden Christensen was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful
People by People Magazine.
