About Geraldine Chaplin (1944 – )

Geraldine Chaplin was born on July 31, 1944, in Santa Monica, California.

Geraldine Chaplin is the daughter of Charles and Oona Chaplin. Geraldine Chaplin is the granddaughter of playwright Eugene O'Neill; (1888-1965) and the singer Charles Chaplin Sr.;(1864-1901). Oona O'Neill; (1926-1991), Eugene O'Neill's daughter was married to Charlie Chaplin from 1943 until his death in 1977.

Geraldine had a twelve year relationship with Spanish director, Carlos Saura, and lived together. They had a son together, Shane Saura Chaplin O'Neil. She had another long term relationship with Patricio Castilla, who she married. They had a daughter, Oona Chaplin in 1986.

Geraldine Chaplin sings the duet, LES AIMANTS, written by Chet and composed by Jerome Rebotier on Chet's album L'amour à la Française.

Geraldine Chaplin made her movie debut as a street urchin in her father's LIMELIGHT (1952).
Director David Lean discovered Geraldine Chaplin when she was dancing in Paris which led to her role in DOCTOR ZHIVAGO ; (1965). Her performance was honored with a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe nomination in 1966.

In 1976, while filming a nude scene in WELCOME TO L.A., Geraldine Chaplin performed the scene in a nude colored body stocking.

Also, in 1976, Geraldine Chaplin was honored for her performance in the 1975 film, NASHVILLE, with a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe nomination.

In 1978, Geraldeine was honored for her performance in WELCOME TO L.A. with a Best Supporting Actress BAFTA Award nomination.
