About Freddie Prinze Jr. (1976 – )

Freddie Prinze Jr. was born on March 8th, 1976, in Los Angeles, California. Freddie was raised by his mother and maternal grandmother in Albuquerque, New Mexico during the year, but spent his summers with his paternal grandmother in Puerto Rico. Freddie is fluent in Spanish.

His father, Freddie Prinze Sr., was a young actor who was best known for his role on the television show, CHICO AND THE MAN. Tragically, Freddie Prinze Sr. committed suicide at the age of 22 when Freddie Jr. was only 10 months old. Although he was on a hit TV series, he perhaps couldn't handle the fame, and turned to drugs. This choice ruined his marriage, and started a fatal downward spiral.

Freddie Prinze Jr. shared his thoughts about his father's death. "If people would only think of my father's gift of comedy, instead of his death, I would love it. I have an album of his stand-up, "Lookin' Good", and no matter how upset I was, anytime, ever, the second I played it he could make me laugh. He was so sharp and spontaneous, so fast!"

In 1994, Freddie moved to L.A. to focus on an acting career, but knew the pitfalls of the Hollywood scene and community. He went there with eyes wide open, sure of his principles, and priorities.

His first little step towards an acting career came with a guest spot on the TV series, FAMILY MATTERS. More guest spots, After School Specials and television movies followed. Stardom came when Freddie landed a role in the movie I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER.

Freddie Prinze Jr. next showed his comedic abilities in SHE'S ALL THAT; the fun, much-loved, and surprisingly successful sleeper hit of the Spring of 1999. Opposite Rachel Leigh Cook, he melted hearts and amused audiences.

Freddie got a taste of real life in Hollywood when his film WING COMMANDER, co-starring Matthew Lillard, tanked at the box office. Fortunately, Wing Commander didn't sink his career, and many more offers for films came his way. Freddie landed the leading roles in DOWN TO YOU, HEAD OVER HEELS, BOYS AND GIRLS, and SUMMER CATCH.

Along the way, Freddie Prinze Jr. discovered the world of providing voices for animated or stop action characters, mostly on the television medium. KIM POSSIBLE:A STITCH IN TIME was a 2003 TV movie that did very well with the ratings. Freddie had two small parts, being the voice of Future Jim and Future Tim.

Prinze followed those up by portraying the character Fred in the live-action adaptation of the 2002 film, SCOOBY-DOO, and SCOOBY-DOO 2: MONSTERS UNLEASHED; in 2004.

In 2002, Freddie married actress, Sarah Michelle Gellar, his costar in the SCOOBY-DOO film series, on Sept. 2nd of that year. Freedie and Sarah had first met each other in the film, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, and their friendship grew into a relationship.

They have a family of two children; Charlotte Grace Prinze, born in 2009, and Rocky James Prinze; born in 2012. They are happily married. Freddie is thrilled to have children to love, and a wife who is his beloved.

"After years of feeling like an outsider, I finally have a woman I love, and friends that I can trust. I am the luckiest man in the world to have met Sarah."
