Stone in EASY A

About Emma Stone (1988 – )
Emily Jean Stone was born on November 6th, 1988, in Scottsdale, Arizona, the daughter of Krista and Jeffrey Stone.

As a child, Emma became interested in acting, and joined the Valley Youth Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona. She enjoyed being in productions throughout her childhood and early teen years, starring in 16 stage productions. At 15, Emma decided to take it a step further. After convincing her parents, she and her mother moved to Los Angeles, so she could audition, while finishing high school at home.

Auburn haired, blue eyed with a husky voice, Emma Stone was recently chosen 10th on People Magazine's 2011 Most Beautiful list.

In 2009, Emma Stone played a tough, teen age, con artist on a road trip in ZOMBIELAND, a comic horror story of paranoid survivors in a post apocalypse world, peopled with blood-crazed zombies. The film received critical acclaim and also became the top grossing zombie movie of all time.

Emma Stone starred in the complex 2010 teen comedy, EASY A , which received critical acclaim, particularly for her tart performance as a wise cracking self-reflective, high school nobody who turns herself into an object of gossip and rumor, when she turns up at school in a black bustier with the Scarlett Letter “A” attached to it.

In 2011, Stone played Hannah, in CRAZY, STUPID LOVE, with Steve Carell and Julianne Moore.

Also in 2011, Emma Stone starred in THE HELP, as a 1960's Mississippi college grad who returns home to Jackson, to write about the lives of the domestic servants who work for her society friends. The movie was very popular and highly successful financially.

In 2012, she was cast in the film role, Gwen Stacey, in THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN, where she co-starred with Andrew Garfield, who became her boyfriend in real life.

In 2015, Emma Stone received much aclaim and received many nominations, for her performance in BIRDMAN, portraying Michael Keaton's daughter, Sam, who sacastically belittles his acting ability. Emma received the BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS OSCAR, a GOLDEN GLOBE nomination, a BAFTA nomination, to name just a few. She did win a BOSTON SOCIETY OF FILM CRITICS AWARD FOR BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS. It can be said that she is on her way to being a major star. She has been noticed and appreciated by many.

Emma doesn't plan to get swallowed up by fame though. Stone has also commented on how her attitude towards stardom is shaped: "I've got a great family and great people around me that would be able to kick me in the shins if I ever for one minute got lost up in the clouds. I've been really lucky in that sense."

Emma Stone commented on a career as a comic actress: - There really aren't many parts. It's an unfortunate thing and something I hope will change, but never has, and who knows if it will? I think "Saturday Night Live" (1975), starting in the 1970s, really gave women an outlet to be funny. A lot of those women went on to have film careers, from Kristen Wiig now to Tina Fey and Gilda Radner."

"Nowadays it seems like the real gold mine is in creating your own characters and teaming with a good writer, but its not easy. It's a scary thing for a woman to put yourself out there and look like an idiot. Look at Lucille Ball. She said, 'I'm not funny. What I am is brave'. The comediennes I admire are the bravest people who aren't afraid to look ridiculous. Maybe that's a harder notion for women - the fear of not looking their best."
