Edward Asner was born on November 15, 1929 in Kansas City,
Kansas.
Sometimes Ed Asner is credited as Edward Asner. Ed is the
father of Matthew Asner and Kate Asner.
In 2003 Ed Asner brought to life Master Vrook Lamar for
the hit movie STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC, then
in 2004 Ed Asner did it again in STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE
OLD REPUBLIC II - THE SITH LORDS.
From 1981 - 1985 Ed Asner was the President of Screen
Actors Guild.
Making several TV guest appearances, Asner was on
THE OUTER LIMITS playing Det. Thomas Siroleo, THE ALFRED HITCOCK
HOUR playing Jack Stander, and THE UNTOUCHABLES playing Frank,
Jimmy Canada and Fedor Bartok.
Playing the role of Lou Grant, Ed Asner became the first
actor to win Emmys for playing the same character. Asner
played Lou Grant in MARY TYLER MOORE and LOU GRANT.
Ed Asner brought to life the animated
character Hudson for the GARGOYLES movie series including
GARGOYLES: BROTHERS BETRAYED , GARGOYLES: THE FORCE OF GOLIATH
and GARGOYLES: THE HUNTED all in 1998. Ed was also the voice
of Hudson for the TV Series GARGOYLES.
In 2004 Asner played Judge Dreyfus in HAPPILY EVER
AFTER although he was not credited for the part.
For the movie ROGER & ME Edward Asner is credited for assisting
in funding for the 1989 film.
Kids and some adults might recognize the voice more than the
faces Ed Asner has brought to life, several animated characters
including J. Jonah Jameson and Officer Barr in the TV series
SPIDER-MAN, as General Aranius in the educational series THE
MAGIC SCHOOL BUS, as Thaddeus T. Third and other voices for
the series RECESS.
Ed Asner has been in several hit TV series, playing Chuck
Marshak in MAX STEEL, Carl Dobson in the series THE CLOSER.
