Cannon in Diagnosis Murder.

About Dyan Cannon (1937 – )

Dyan Cannon was born on January 4, 1937, in Tacoma, Washington. Her mother was a devout Jew, and her father became a devout Christian, making for a confusing childhood.

Dyan Cannon's birth name is Samile Diane Friesen and she went by the nickname, Frosty, in high school. Cannon got her stage name from producer Jerry Wald.

In 1959, Dyan Cannon made her movie debut in This Rebel Breed.

In 1961, Cannon met Cary Grant and let her career go on the back burner, while she concentrated on their relationship. Grant and Cannon were married in 1965. Dyan and Cary had a daughter, Jennifer, who eventually became an actress, after graduating from Stanford, and working as a lawyer. Cary and Dyan divorced in 1968.

Dyan Cannon started acting again in 1969, in Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice for which Dyan was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress.

Dyan was honored in 1976, with her second Academy Award Oscar Nomination for her short film, NUMBER ONE. She wrote the screenplay, produced it, directed it, and did the editing on the footage as well.

Dyan's third Academy Award Oscar Nomination came as a result of her performance in the 1978 film, HEAVEN CAN WAIT.

In 1983, Dyan won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; 6608 Hollywood Boulevard.

Dyan tried marriage again with producer Stan Fimberg; from 1985, until 1992 when they divorced.

In the early 1990s, Dyan became a fully-committed Christian, as a result of her searching for something real to fill a dark hole in her life, that wasn't fill by gains in this world. She needed the love that only God could give her.

Dyan lives by her faith, helping people and sharing her testimony about Jesus Christ . She at first had a Bible study out of her home. When it grew too big, she called the President of CBS, and asked if there was room on the studio lot. Soon, Dyan and friends were leading Bible study and service, in a CBS building on the Studio City lot, outreaching to Hollywood.
