About Dolph Lundgren (1957 – )

Dolph Lundgren was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on November 3rd, 1957.

Lundgren completed his military service before continuing his education. In the military, Dolph Lundgren became interested in the martial arts. Within five years, Dolph had become a world class competitor in Japanese Karate.

Dolph married Anette Qviberg in 1994. Dolph met her after he had become a success in martial arts and had a few good films under his belt. They have two daughters; Ida Sigrid Lundgren and Greta Eveline Lundgren. Sadly, Dolph and Anette divorced in 2011.

Dolph Lundgren is an interesting combination of brawn and brains. Dolph has a tall stature, at 6 feet, 5 inches. Dolph Lundgren speaks four languages: English, German, Swedish and French. He is said to have an I.Q. of 160.

Following in his father's footsteps, Dolph obtained a degree in engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. in 1982, Dolph received his master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia. The following year, Dolph was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to MIT.

Dolph Lundgren wasn't satisfied with this line of work, and decided to focus on a way to make his living in physical training, martial arts and in theatrical endeavors. As the years rolled by, Dolph found ways to meet his goals very successfully with smart plans, put in motion with a persistant drive to make things happen, starting in the 1980s'.

In the eighties, Dolph Lundgren released his own workout video, MAXIMUM POTENTIAL. He also wrote a fitness book for men. Also, in New York City, Dolph met drama coach, Warren Robertson, and decided to try acting. He attended Robertson's Theatre Workshop in Manhattan.

In 1985, Dolph Lundgren made his motion picture debut in the James Bond thriller, A VIEW TO KILL. In the same year, he had a role in ROCKY IV, which brought him wide recognition in the industry.

Dolph Lundgren paid his thespian dues, starring and co-starring in many independently made action yarns; in the 1980s through the 1990s', and into the 2000's, which could be described as great male-bonding flicks.

Meanwhile, Dolph worked on his martial arts skills and career; a passion he has developed and pursued over the years. Dolph Lundgren earned a second degree black belt in karate. He recently received his third degree black belt from the World Karate Organization in Tokyo.

In 1996, his skill and efforts in martial arts began to bring him opportunities. Dolph Lundgren was chosen by the U.S. Olympic Committee to serve as the Team Leader of the 1996 U.S. Olympic Pentathlon Team during the Atlanta Games.

Dolph is currently the captain of the Swedish National Karate Team, and holds championships in the Swedish, European, and Australian Karate Heavyweight Divisions. Lundgren regularly performs at karate exhibitions at international tournaments all over the world.

Eventually, Dolph Lundgren invested his earnings he made from his action films in forming his own production company, Thor Pictures, allowing him to have more creative control over what kind and the quality of pictures he would act and perform in. This resulted in better quality action adventure films. He got involved behind the camera on some; writing five screenplays, and even trying directing.

In 2004, Dolph Lundgren directed his first two films, THE DEFENDER, and THE MECHANIK.
