Dolph Lundgren was born in Stockholm, Sweden on November 3, 1957.
Lundgren completed his military service before continuing his education. In the military Dolph Lundgren became interested in the Martial Arts. Within five years Dolph had become a world class competitor in Japanese Karate.
Following in his father's footsteps, he obtained to a degree in engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He received his master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia in 1982. The following year he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to MIT.
He was wed to Anette Qviberg in 1994. They have two daughters, Ida Sigrid Lundgren and Greta Eveline Lundgren.
In New York City he met a drama coach named Warren Robertson and decided to try acting. He attended the Warren Robertson Theatre Workshop in Manhattan.
In 1985 Dolph Lundgren made his motion picture debut in the James Bond thriller, A VIEW TO KILL. The same year he had a role in ROCKY IV which brought him recognition in the industry.
In 2004, Dolph Lundgren directed and starred in his first two films THE DEFENDER AND THE MECHANIK.
Dolph Lundgren has a second degree black belt in karate. He recently received his third degree black belt by the World Karate Organization in Tokyo. His accomplishments include being the captain of the Swedish National Karate Team. Dolph is the champion of the Swedish, European and Australian Heavyweight Division titles. Lundgren regulary performs at karate exhibitions at international tournaments all over the world.
In 1996, Dolph Lundgren was chosed by the U.S. Olympic Committe to serve as the Team Leader of the 1966 U.S. Olympic Pentathlon Team during the Altanta Games.
Dolph Lundgren has formed his own production company, Thor Pictures. He also is a member of Group of Eight, a New York Theatre Group.
In the eighties Dolph Lundgren released his own workout video, MAXIMUM POTENTIAL. Lundgren also is writing a fitness book for men.
Dolph Lundgren avidly speaks four languages - English, German, Swedish and French. He is said to have an I.Q. of 160.
