Daniel Stern was raised in Bethesda, Maryland and stumbled upon a career in acting, when he went to the Washington Shakespeare Festival, seeking work as an electrician, but was put to work as a strolling player in "As You Like It." He then moved to New York, where he acted in Off-Broadway plays.
in the 1982 movie, DINER, Daniel Stern played one of 5 adult friends who meet regularly at a local diner, to regale one another with their tales of their adolescent-type exploits, and who finally decide to take on adult responsibilities.
Daniel Stern played one a a pair of bumbling would be robbers in HOME ALONE [,[1990], who is thwarted by efforts of the 8 year old child [Macaulay Culkin] of a family that accidentally left him behind, when they left on vacation for Paris. Daniel Stern repeated his role as one of a pair of enept crooks, in a rematch with the resourceful, mischevous kid in HOME ALONE 2 [1992]. Both movies were huge financial successes, grossing nearly a third of a billion dollars each.
In 1991, Stern played one of three urban dudes on a cowboy vacation in CITY SLICKERS, where they work out their midlife problems with comic effect.
