Cox in ACE VENTURA PET DETECTIVE.

About Courtney Cox (1964 –)

Courtney Cox was born on June 15, 1964, in Birmingham, Alabama. Courtney's nickname is "CeCe". Her parents were Courtney (Bass) and Richard Lewis Cox. They divorced when Courtney was ten years old. Both her parents remarried. Courtney sorely missed her father, Richard Cox, when he moved to Florida afterward, and resented her mother and new step-father in her teen years, though she is friends with everyone now.

Courtney Cox was the youngest of four children, and grew up in the exclusive community of Mountain Brook, Alabama. She attended Mountain Brook High School, where she was a cheer leader, and joined the tennis and swim team. She did her first modeling job while a senior in high school.

After graduating, Courtney went to Mount Vernon College to study architecture, but dropped out after she was signed up with the Ford Modeling Agency in New York. She appeared on the covers of teen magazines such as Tiger Beat and Little Miss, as well as on the covers of numerous romance novels.

Courtney then moved on to commercials for Maybeline, Noxema, New York Telephone Company and Tampax. Courtney was the first person to ever say the word, "period", on American TV, in a Tampax commercial.

Courtney Cox was the girl that Bruce Springsteen pulled from the crowd to dance with in the 1984 music video, "Dancing in the Dark". It was her first big show-business break.

In 1985, when Courtney was cast in a TV series, MISFITS IN SCIENCE, Courtney moved to Los Angeles. While this series was short-lived, she won another audition and became the girlfriend of Michael J Fox, on FAMILY TIES; a role that lasted until 1989.

In 1994, Courtney Cox starred alongside Jim Carrey in the hit film, ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE. This huge success led to a plum role; Monica, on the hit TV series, FRIENDS.

She was named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People of 1995. That same year, Playboy Magazine named her "Hottest Babe". FHM readers also voted her the "9th sexiest woman in the world". In 1997, she was voted Best Dressed Female Television Star.

Courtney Cox made a strong impression in Wes Craven's 1996 horror/comedy film, SCREAM, where she met her husband, actor David Arquette. They were married in 1999, in San Francisco at Grace Cathedral, on Nob Hill. Courtney suffered through many miscarriages, but they did have a daughter together. Unfortunitely, they divorced in 2013.

In 2008, Courtney Cox was in the TV series, DIRT.

In 2009, she portrayed Dr. Taylor Mattox in the TV series, SCRUBS.

Courtney Cox in 2015 portrayed the role of Jules Cobb, on the TV series, COUGAR.
