Chris Tucker –

About Chris Tucker (1972 – )

Chris Tucker was born on October 31, 1972, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tucker is known for being a "motor mouth talker" and a stand-up comic. Tucker is well known for parodying the Cuban accent of the Tony Montana character from SCARFACE.

In 1995, Chris Tucker's breakout role was that of Smokey in FRIDAY.

In the 1997 Luc Besson film, THE FIFTH ELEMENT, Chris Tucker played the radio show host, Ruby Rhod. This character is a brilliant, over-the-top portrayal of a sexy, vain, flamboyant inter-galactic celeb, who is outrageously dressed in French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier gowns and high heels.

Also in 1997, Chris Tucker played a small role in the Quentin Tarantino highly popular movie, JACKIE BROWN, portraying a doomed, assistant illegal gun dealer, Beaumont Livingston, who is blown away by his ruthless employer, Samuel L. Jackson, because Beaumont had to be let go.

In 1998, Tucker played a cocky, street-wise LAPD Detective, James Carter, in the blockbuster comedy, RUSH HOUR, with Jackie Chan. The clash-of-culture duo team work to solve a kidnapping case in Hong Kong. He reprised the part in RUSH HOUR 2 (1997) and RUSH HOUR 3 (2007).

Chris Tucker is careful to choose wisely what film projects he will be a part of; films that are interesting to him, with a great cast of actors, or people he enjoys acting with. So far, he has made excellent choices in the films that he has been involved with.

"I think real life reflects your movies. In your life, you pick stuff that influences what movie roles you wanna pick. I think if you've got an interesting life, you wanna do interesting movies about interesting things."

When Chris Tucker isn't doing his first love, being a stand-up comic in its variety of forms, such as appearing on TV talk shows, hosting events, and other gigs where he practices his comedic gifts, he loves to travel and learn about other cultures and their needs.

"Now, going around the world, it's such a great experience, I feel so blessed, because I get to see the world. I get a broad perspective of the world, and we've got so much here in America - and in Africa, there are places with no clean water, places with no schools, no hospitals. I would say in the last six years I've been doing a lot of educating myself about what's been going on in the world."
