About Chris Rock (1965 - )

Born February 7, 1965 Brooklyn, New York.

His wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, was featured in "Redbook Magazine" as one of the winners of the 2002 Mothers & Shakers Awards. Malaak is the founder and executive director of StyleWorks, a non-profit, full-service salon that provides free services for women leaving welfare and entering the work force.

Chris Rock has been in stand-up comedy for over twelve years. Chosen as #5 in Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time (April 2004). Chris Rock was discover by Eddie Murphy.

Rock made his big screen debut in Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) and spent three years on the cast of Saturday Night Live.

Rock has written a book titled "Rock This" and has released two comedy albums, Chris was also voted the funniest person in America by Entertainment Weekly.

Chris received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (March 12, 2003).

Chris Rock wrote and starred in the 1993 rockumentary, CB4, playing rapper MC Gusto.

Rock starred in HBO's BIGGER AND BLACKER [1999], which featured his social commentary style of stand-up comedy. Chris Rock has won 4 Emmys for his television comedy specials, including one for BIGGER AND BLACKER.

In 2001, Chris Rock played in DOWN TO EARTH, portraying a struggling comedian who suddenly finds himself struggling in the afterlife. Rock portrayed an alderman turned presidential candidate in the 2003 movie, HEAD OF STATE.

Rock has taken control of his career by producing CB4, BIGGER AND BLACKER, DOWN TO EARTH and HEAD OF STATE, plus twelve more titles, largely productions in which he also starred in.
