Charlie was discovered by talent agent while appearing in
a high school production of MAN OF LA MANCHA . Charlie became
a star with the role of "Toad," a nerdy kid in glasses, in AMERICAN GRAFFITI, the 1973 George Lucas classic.
Charlie Martin Smith starred as a government researcher, who lives out in the open with a pack of wolves and eats mice on saltines in the 1983 movie, NEVER CRY WOLF. He also wrote the narration for the main character's voice over, credited as C.M. Smith.
In the 1984 movie, STARMAN, he played a compassionate scientist confronting a friendly alien played by Jeff Bridges.
