New York.
On June 21, 2001 Carroll O'Connor passed away in Culver City
California, from a heart attack brought on by complications
from diabetes.
John Lee Hooker and Carroll O'Connor have their Stars on
the Hollywood Walk of Fame side by side, they also both passed
away on the same day. John Lee Hooker was a blues singer.

Archie Bunker for several years starting in 1971 on ALL IN
THE FAMILY continuing the role in the series ARCHIE BUNKER'S
PLACE in 1979 until 1983.

of the "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time. This was Carroll
O'Connor character in the hit TV Series ALL IN THE FAMILY.
Who could ever forget Carroll O'Connor's nicknames he had for
the other characters while playing Archie Bunker in the series
ALL IN THE FAMILY, rarley using people's names, his wife Edith
was usually dingbat and his son in law Michael was
always called Meathead.
After trying to make it on Broadway Carroll O'Connor struck
out, until 1958, O'Connor landed an Off-Broadway production,
ULYSSES IN DOWNTOWN.
From 1971 - 1979, Carroll O'Connor mostly worked on TV, from
which he became well recongized and earned 4 Emmy awards for
his role as Archie in ALL IN THE FAMILY. Then in 1988 he did
it again working mosly on TV from 1988 - 1995, O'Connor was
the co-executive producer and also had a starring role in
the hit series IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, winning another Emmy
in 1989.
Playing Jake Gordon, Carroll O'Connor had a recurring role
as a TV Guest Star on PARTY OF FIVE, and on the hit series
MAD ABOUT YOU playing Gus Stemple.
The hit series IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT was a great role
for Carroll O'Connor he played William Bill O Gillespie who
was the sheriff. Being a co-executive producer, O'Connor was
able to use his star power and have friends and other special
guest stars on the series to help with the ratings. Lois
Nettleton had several recurring roles as well as Miss Jean
Simmons and Bobby Short.
