About Carol Burnett (1933 –)

Carol Burnett was born on April 26, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas.

Bringing to life the Animated voice, Carol Burnett was Mrs. Hammerbotham, in the 2001 movie THE TRUMPET OF THE SWAN.

Who can ever forget the drunken and mean Miss Hannigan? Carol Burnett played the role perfectly in 1982's hit movie, ANNIE.

The made-for-TV movie SOUTHERN STAR: A PORTRAIT OF ATLANTA, in 1996, was Carol Burnett's writing debut. She also produced the movie.

In 1980, Carol Burnett took on her newest challenge. Burnett Produced two TV Movies: FRED ASTAIRE: CHANGE PARTNERS AND DANCE and FRED ASTAIRE: PUTTIN ON HIS TOP HAT. This was her producing debut.

Everyone will always know Carol Burnett from both of her TV series, THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW and CAROL & COMPANY; doing comedic skits with different characters, with the help of her ensemble characters of various guest stars, and her regulars: Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence, and Lyle Lawrence.

A famous trademark that everyone recognized was when Carol Burnett would Tug on her left ear ring during on-camera appearances as a way of saying "Hello" to her deceased Grandmother. It was her grandmother who raised her and took her to the movies all the time.

Carol Burnett is the mother of actress Carrie Hamilton and singer Erin Hamilton.

In 1969, Carol Burnett received a Special Tony Award. Burnett was also twice nominated for the Tony Award, In 1960, she was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical, for ONCE UPON A MATTRESS; a performance Carol re-created in a television special of the same name, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, in 1972. In 1996, she was nominated for Best Actress in the play; MOON OVER BUFFALO.

Burnett considered Jim Nabors to be her good luck charm. He appeared as a guest on the first episode of THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW in 1967, and when the show took off, Carol Burnett had him back on the first episode of every season.
