Burt Kwouk was born on July 18th, 1930 in Manchester, England, but was raised in Shanghai until the age of 17. He graduated from Bowdoin College in the USA, in 1953.

He considered himself Chinese, and not British, but Kwouk was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's 2011 New Years Honours list for his services to drama.

Described by audiences and friends as a funny version of Bruce Lee, Kwouk is best known for playing "Cato" in the many PINK PANTHER comedies.
