Bruno Lawrence was born on February 12, 1941 in Worthing,
Sussex, England. His birthname was David Charles Lawrence.
On June 10, 1995 Bruno Lawrence passed away in Wellington,
New Zealand from lung cancer.
Lawrence formed a dixie-land band at age 15 and made the
various school and church dance rounds where he picked up
the nickname Bruno. Drums were Bruno Lawrence's passion, he played
drums in a slew of jazz groups including The Measles, Max
Merritt and the Meteors, Littlejohn, and Crocodiles throughout
the 60s and 1970s.
In the 1980s Bruno Lawrence latched on to film and TV roles
in between his musical gigs. Focusing heavily on acting in
the 80s. While working on a new film COSI (1996), Bruno complained
of chest pains and discovered he had inoperable lung cancer.
Lawrence passed away a short time later.
