Bette Midler was Born on December 1, 1945 in
Honolulu, Hawaii.
Midler's Nickname is The Divine Miss M. Which is also the
name of her first album. In the 70's Bette performed her cabaret
act at the famed gay men's club, The Continental Baths.
Bette was listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of
1979" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 31. Midler was the
final guest on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson".
Bette Midler was Ranked #51 on VH1's 100 Greatest Women of
Rock N Roll.
Two of Midler's hit songs were selected by the American Film
Institute for their television special: "The 100 years of
the Greatest Songs." Bette's two songs were "Wind Beneath
My Wings" from BEACHES (#44) and The Rose from THE ROSE (#83).
Bette has Won four Grammy awards including the 1973 Best
New Artist and the pretigious Record of the Year in 1989 for
the soaring rendition of her # 1 hit "Wind Beneath My Wings"
from the movie BEACHES.
In 1974 Bette received a special Tony Award for her work
on her Palace Concert Show.
