His popularity rose to new heights with his starring role as Jingles in ADVENTURES OF WILD BILL HICKOK IN 1951. In 1955, Andy Devine hosted a children's show called ANDY'S GANG. Children all over the world became his newest fans.

Andy Devine played Hap Gorman on the first season of NBC TV's FLIPPER in 1964.

Captain's Anchorage, a fine restaurant in Big Bear Lake California, was once owned by Andy Devine. When Andy Devine owned the restaurant it was a sportsman's bar where a lot of gambling took place. The story so goes that the accountant's office was upstairs over the bar and the accountant was known to steal all the gambler's winnings. The restaurant has always claimed that it is haunted by the accountant. On almost every wall in the restaurant, you will find pictures of Andy Devine in his different films.

Jimmy Buffett mentions Andy Devine in his song PENCIL THIN MUSTACHE.
